INTERNATIONAL CEO MOVES OFFICE FROM LONDON TO STEAMBOAT
Australian-born Chris O’Reilly has lived an adventurous life with years spent in France, Canada, the Bahamas and England, but he chose Steamboat Springs as home for his family.
“For me, this is it. Steamboat has one of the most pristine environments and is a community-driven town,” O’Reilly said. “I wanted to live in a beautiful environment and raise my family in it.”
He also chose Steamboat for the marketing and finance headquarters of his successful international company LDM Global. The legal document management company began in 1995 and now has 45 employees in seven major cities across the world – London, Brussels, Paris, Sydney, New York, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
“Steamboat is not necessarily a capital city on the globe, but it’s a lower cost center than London or New York,” explained O’Reilly, who has a degree in economics, finance and business law.
LDM Global works in everything from computer forensics to online data hosting for document intensive commercial litigation or regulatory matters. The company has helped major players from Coca-Cola to Home Depot to the International Criminal Tribunal in the Hague, Netherlands.
O’Reilly moved his office to Steamboat in 2012 and now employs 10 people locally. Now he can spend more time with his family, which includes three young daughters, and do the things he loves such as skiing, biking, hiking and camping. One of his favorite things is a summertime bike ride with his family for a picnic at the river or a hike to a high-mountain lake for a chilly swim.
He often takes his staff outside for Friday afternoon hikes or morning powder days on the mountain for team-building exercises.
O’Reilly said he plans to increase his Steamboat staff by hiring locally as much as possible.
“There are so many good people in this town that are über-intelligent and just oozing skills,” he said.
